Protecting Your Electric Bike

When it comes to the world of bicycles, unfortunately, theft can be a problem, and electric bikes are not immune to it. We can assume this is because electric bikes are great and everyone wants to try one! But as riding and renting electric bikes becomes increasingly popular in Romania, thefts can also occur.

Whether for work or leisure rides, electric bikes play an integral role in many people's daily lives. Protecting them is therefore crucial, and a simple way to make it harder for thieves is properly securing your bike. Here are some tips to prevent your bike from becoming the next target!

The Key to Success Is the Lock!

To truly protect your electric bike from thieves, we will provide you with a long and thick anti-theft chain that guarantees advanced security for your bike.

First, take the anti-theft chain and wrap it around the rear wheel and the frame of the bike. Then, place the chain around a metal rack or solid post, insert the chain lock into the cable hole, and secure it, exactly as shown in this video:

This will give you advanced protection for your electric bike, posing a significantly greater challenge for thieves who want to steal it. This process won't take much time, but it will certainly discourage thieves from trying to steal your electric bike whenever they see it. At the same time, securing your bike gives you peace of mind when you leave it unattended.

Attach Your Electric Bike to Something Solid and Immovable

When securing your bike with a lock, make sure you attach it to something solid, immovable, and cemented in the ground.

Bike racks and stands are the best options — they meet all these requirements and are thick enough to prevent thieves from damaging them. Other solid options include signposts, buildings, and other road infrastructure.

Choose a Smart Location

If you leave your electric bike outside a building for a longer period, choosing the right spot is also important. We recommend leaving it in a well-lit area, and if there are security cameras nearby, even better. Leaving it in a quiet spot hidden from passersby (e.g., an apartment building courtyard) makes your bike an easy target for thieves, so always try to leave it in a place where thieves can be easily spotted.

Keep It Indoors at Night

We also recommend not leaving your electric bike locked outside an enclosed space at night, as this is the ideal time for thieves. Try to keep the bike indoors when you go to sleep, whether it's your home, garage, or another building — this can make all the difference. We also do NOT recommend keeping the bike overnight in the stairwell of your apartment building. The safest place to store your bike at night remains inside your apartment or house.

Protecting your electric bike is crucial. Whether you rent an electric bike from us, have a delivery bike, or want to buy a fast electric bike for fun, make sure you lock it properly! It will save you a lot of money and you'll be grateful one day.
